UEFN Game Jam

Students from UNC Greensboro (UNCG), Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech), and Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) will use Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for Fortnite to dive into the world of game development, October 27 –28 at UNCG’s Esports Arena.

Using the Unreal Editor, students will unleash their creativity and take their game development skills to the next level – and potentially create content that could make its way into the Fortnite universe. Students from the three institutions who are studying either computer science, animation, or game development will participate.

UEFN Game Jam

Students from UNC Greensboro (UNCG), Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech), and Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) will use Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for Fortnite to dive into the world of game development, October 27 –28 at UNCG’s Esports Arena.

Using the Unreal Editor, students will unleash their creativity and take their game development skills to the next level – and potentially create content that could make its way into the Fortnite universe. Day 1: Oct 27

Learning, Collaboration, and Game Creation

  • Unreal Editor for Fortnite Workshop:

    Kick off the event with an in-depth workshop on Unreal Editor. Learn the basics and advanced tips from industry experts.

  • Team Formation:

    Meet fellow participants and form teams based on your interests and skills. Whether you’re an artist, programmer, or level designer, there’s a place for everyone. Teams will need to have 2-4 people.

  • Brainstorming and Planning:

    Spend time brainstorming and planning your Fortnite content creation. Map out your ideas, sketch concepts, and refine your game plan.

  • Game Development:

    Dive headfirst into developing your Fortnite content using Unreal Editor for Fortnite. Put your skills to the test as you bring your ideas to life. Experienced mentors will be on hand to offer guidance and assistance.

Day 2: Oct 28

Game Creation and Showdown

  • Game Development:

    Continue developing your game on the second day with help from industry experts.

  • Playtesting and Iteration:

    As you progress, playtest your creations and iterate on them to make them even better. Receive feedback from your peers and mentors to refine your work.

  • Showcase and Awards:

    Wrap up the event by showcasing your creations to the judges and fellow participants.

    $400 in Amazon Gift Cards dispersed to team members

  • Most Innovative Game and Team:

    $400 in Amazon Gift Cards dispersed to team members

  • Most Motivated Learner(s) Award:

    1 Year UEFN Creator School membership for individuals that demonstrate a desire to learn through online resources like the UEFN Creator School and other online sources. ($499 value/person, up to 3 individuals for any teams will be awarded)

  • Top 3 Most Complete Games:

    Teams will be given the opportunity to have UNCG Music Composition students write a soundtrack for their games. The songs written will be performed by an orchestra at a Greensboro Symphony concert!
