UNCG Gaming and Esports Club
Founded in 2011 as a League of Legends club, the UNCG Gaming and Esports Club has transformed into an exciting, student-run community that now competes across 10 different game titles and hosts epic invitational LANs with schools from all over North Carolina! Every Friday, club members dive into a range of activities that go beyond gaming—think cookouts at Piney Lake, trips to local arcades, karaoke nights in the arena, and so much more.
Whether you’re a casual player or an aspiring pro, the UNCG Gaming and Esports Club is your gateway to unforgettable experiences, friendships, and next-level competition. LAN Tournaments
The UNCG Gaming and Esports Club has hosted several LAN style tournaments in 2023; including Valorant, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. Players came from UNCG, UNCC, Cumberland, Elon, and HPU. Students were able to learn production and broadcast skills for these events through volunteer opportunities with Recreation and Wellness.
Club members were able to learn budget building, networking, graphic design, and other 21st century skill through planning and facilitating these LAN tournaments. UNCG Valorant placed 1st in their Valorant Invitational and the UNCG Apex Legends LAN had over 60+ student attendees.
