Are personal gaming items (laptops, keyboards) allowed to be used in the Esports Arena?

Yes, personal gaming items are allowed within the arena. If Esports equipment is unplugged or moved, it is to be replaced to its original placement once the gaming session is over.

What are the normal hours of operation for the Esports Arena?

The Esports arena is open 7 days a week, from 12:00pm – 12:00am.

Is the Esports Arena opening during holidays and university breaks?

Modified hours will occur during university breaks, holidays, summer session, major weather events, and final exams. Current hours can be found at esports.uncg.edu.

Can I tour the Esports Arena?

Do I need to pay to play in the Arena?

There is currently no additional cost to game in the arena for UNCG students.

Who is allowed access to the Esports Arena? What will I need to provide?

Currently only UNCG students are allowed to utilize the Esports Arena. You must present your SpartanCard to the front desk staff in order to gain access to a gaming computer or console area.

Will there be competitions held in the Esports Arena?

Yes. The UCNG Esports & Gaming Club will be hosting LAN events against other universities throughout the school year. In addition, we will be collaborating with Competitive Sports to host various tournaments for UNCG students throughout the academic year.

Can I reserve a PC or Console ahead of time?

Currently there are no reservations required to play on a PC or console. Our gaming management platform is currently working on an integrated reservation system which we will look to implement in the future.

Can my group reserve the Esports Arena?

All group reservations requests can be made by completing the form here.

Do I have to be an experienced gamer to use any PC/Console in the Esports Arena?

No. We welcome all students with any type of gaming experience in our space. If you are new to gaming, please let us know and our staff will be happy to assist you in learning about the PC or Gaming Consoles.

Esports Arena Policies & Code of Conduct


The UNCG Esports Arena is committed to providing a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for all members of the University community. The following UNCG Esports Arena Facility policies and code of conduct have been set forth to ensure that every member of the campus community has an enjoyable experience. All patrons entering the arena agree to follow all policies and expectations, and to uphold the integrity and values of UNCG. Failure to uphold the University’s values or engaging in any of the behaviors listed below may result in your removal from the arena and disciplinary action under the UNCG Student Code of Conduct.

Access Policies

  • The UNCG Esports Arena is available to currently enrolled UNCG Students.
  • Faculty, staff, and non-UNCG guests are currently not permitted unless they are a part of a group reservation. Group reservations for non-student groups are approved on a case-by-case basis.
  • Students must present their SpartanCard when entering the Esports Arena. No ID, no entry – no exceptions.
  • Individuals using another individual’s ID will be denied access and the card will be confiscated. The individual listed on the ID card will have their access to the Esports Arena suspended, and they must meet with a member of the Esports professional staff by appointment. Further action may be taken in accordance with applicable University policies and procedures .

Hours of Operation

  • 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM, 7 days a week during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Modified hours will occur during university breaks, holidays, summer session, major weather events, and final exams. Current hours can be found at esports.uncg.edu.

General Arena Policies

  • Only leak proof plastic drink containers are permitted inside the Esports Arena and must be stored on the floor away from gaming equipment.
  • Food is NOT permitted in the Esports Arena.
  • Service animals are permitted and should be accompanied at all times.
  • All equipment in the Esports Arena must remain within the arena.
  • Alcohol and/or drug use is strictly prohibited. Smoking, vaping, and other tobacco products are also prohibited.
  • Students must notify staff of any damaged or malfunctioning equipment prior to use.
  • Personal items left unattended will be held for a period of one week before the unattended items are discarded. UNCG and UNCG Esports Arena staff are not responsible for any personal items left unattended.
  • A mouse, keyboard, and mousepad are provided at each gaming station.
  • Patrons may use personal peripherals, but they must be removed and reset to the original setup when finished gaming.
  • Patrons are responsible for the care of all equipment they use in the arena. Any repair or replacement costs incurred due to misuse of equipment will be the individual’s responsibility.
  • Patrons are responsible for leaving their gaming station clean and ready for the next user after each use.
  • Personal items must be kept under your gaming station at all times.
  • Rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, hoverboards, and any similar modes of personal transportation, are not allowed in the arena.

Gameplay Policies

  • PC gaming stations and console gaming bays are currently available on a first come, first serve basis. Individual reservations are not available at this time.
  • PC stations on the battlestage are only available for UNCG Esports & Gaming club members currently on the club roster.
  • ggLeap is the PC gaming management platform used in the Esports Arena. All game access is managed through ggLeap.
  • Patrons must set up a ggLeap account to access the gaming platform.
  • Patrons have access to a variety of free games and a limited amount of paid game licenses provided by the Esports Arena.
  • Access to personal game licenses is permitted through ggLeap.
  • Gameplay Limits
    • PC Stations: each patron is permitted 3-hours of gameplay per calendar day.
    • Console Gaming Bays: each bay may be reserved for up to 90-minutes at a time with the option to extend for one additional 90-minute timeblock if no other patrons are waiting.
    • Patrons are expected to vacate once a console reservation or PC station time allotment has been reached for the day.

Gaming Equipment Checkout Policies

  • Gaming consoles and accessories are available to check out from the Welcome Desk at no cost for use inside the arena.
  • Equipment is available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • A SpartanCard is required to check out equipment.
  • Patrons are responsible for the care of all equipment in their possession. Any repair or replacement costs incurred due to misuse of equipment will be the responsibility of the person who checked out the equipment. 

UNCG Esports Arena Code of Conduct

  • All patrons are expected to treat every individual within the arena with respect and be courteous as it relates to the experience of other visitors.
  • Attempting to utilize the computers for anything other than gaming will not be tolerated.
  • Damaging or tampering with any property in or around the UNCG Esports Arena may result in disciplinary action.
  • Poor sportsmanship directed towards other visitors will not be tolerated.
  • Cheating or any illegal activity conducted in, around, or in connection with the Arena will not be tolerated by the University and may be subject to legal action.
  • Toxic behavior of any kind including, but not limited to, threats of violence, lewd, obscene, or profane language, comments, or gestures, stalking, bullying, physical altercations, “rage quitting” and/or other forms of intimidation will not be tolerated.
  • The UNCG Esports program will not tolerate harassment or hateful language in any form. Anyone violating these policies will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the UNCG Student Code of Conduct.
  • For reference, harassment includes, but is not limited to:
    • Hateful language, offensive or discriminatory behavior, or verbal abuse related to an individual’s actual or perceived social identity including, but not limited to, gender, gender identity, gender expression, origin, disabling condition, sexual orientation, genetic information, religion, veteran status, political affiliation, age, race, ethnicity, physical appearance, or body size.
    • Stalking or intimidation (physically or online).
    • Spamming, raiding, hijacking, impersonating, or inciting disruption of streams or social media.
    • Posting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (“doxing”).
    • Unwelcome sexual attention including unwelcome sexualized comments, jokes, and sexual advances.
    • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
  • The UNCG Esports program encourages reporting of incidents involving UNCG students or affiliates. If you see behaviors not consistent with our Student Code of Conduct, please inform any of our arena staff and/or complete the Concerning Gamer Behavior Form. Alternatively, you can report it to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities by using the Incident Reporting Form.
